The mission of Catholic Charities of Central New Mexico is “To put faith in action to improve the lives of those in need.” Since February, the organization has been helping the Diocese of El Paso and Annunciation House with the overflow of asylum-seekers arriving at the border. The Companions on the Journey project has provided respite to over 500 refugee arrivals to date and part of a coalition of organizations supporting this work.

Lutheran Social Services of the Southwest | AZ

Your gift to Lutheran Social Services of the Southwest gives immediate relief to asylum seeking families, in the form of shelter, food, clothing, and travel assistance in Arizona. In 2018, the U.S. Customs and Border Patrol processed more than 107,000 migrant families seeking asylum and protection. With ICE lacking the capacity for growing asylee numbers, families have been released to churches in Phoenix for temporary and transitional shelter until they are capable of traveling to their final destination. Currently, there are not enough churches to accommodate the increasing numbers of asylum-seekers, and these families are being released on the street and at bus stations, with no means to continue their journey.
